The sweet treasure of the African desert
Native to Africa, the Watermelon was domesticated in the Nile Valley more than four thousand years ago and remains one of Tunisia's major summer crops.
Trailing and vigorous, it needs space, heat and sun, and rewards patience with fruit that can exceed ten kilos.

Give it full sun and plenty of ground space: its vines spread several metres.

Water generously during growth, then reduce sharply as ripening approaches to concentrate the sugars.
