Kalanchoé Cuillères d'Argent

Endemic to the spiny forests of southern Madagascar, it crosses months without rain thanks to that packed coat of hairs: it throws back the sun, slows the wind at the leaf surface and holds a little moisture against the blade.

The cultivar 'Silver Spoons' was selected for the width and whiteness of its foliage. In a pot the shrub rarely passes a metre, and in late winter it opens small orange tubular flowers held well above the leaves.
